Overview

This comprehensive one-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) symposium is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the latest advancements in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of lung, chest wall, and esophageal diseases. This year's agenda features expert-led presentations, interactive panel discussions, and opportunities for peer-to-peer engagement. This symposium aims to equip providers with practical knowledge and cutting-edge updates that can be directly applied to patient care. It is ideal for thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, internists, and all allied healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with thoracic and upper gastrointestinal conditions.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Screen patients for lung cancer based on current qualifications and risk factors.
  2. Evaluate incidental pulmonary nodules using evidence-based diagnostic algorithms.
  3. Manage high-risk lung cancer patients through coordinated care with tertiary centers.
  4. Treat early-stage NSCLC using appropriate surgical or stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) modalities.
  5. Implement Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols in lung surgery to improve patient outcomes.
  6. Identify candidates for local and ablative therapies in the setting of oligometastatic lung cancer.
  7. Apply advancements in perioperative therapies for lung cancer to optimize surgical readiness and recovery.
  8. Differentiate between benign and malignant chest wall disorders for accurate diagnosis and management.
  9. Manage GERD with medical therapy, considering comorbidities such as obesity.
  10. Surveil patients with Barrett’s esophagus using endoscopic and histologic criteria for cancer risk stratification.
  11. Diagnose early-stage esophageal cancer and determine indications for endoscopic versus surgical therapy.
  12. Integrate perioperative and minimally invasive surgical strategies in the treatment of esophageal malignancies.
  13. Counsel patients on treatment options for achalasia, including POEM, myotomy, and esophagectomy.
