Overview

The symposium is designed to provide learners with the opportunity to build and expand their knowledge of contemporary simulation training related to medical education and clinical application. The Curricular Track will cover the art of writing hi-fidelity cases, the nuances of pre-brief and de-brief sessions and creating safe places for learner feedback. The Administrative Track will provide tools related to budgets, simulation space and SIM team development. The Action Track will include point-of-care-ultrasound (POCUS) integration into simulation, crew resource management techniques and developing confident team leaders.

Registration fees: $249 Physician, $179 Nurse/Allied Health/Student/Non-Physician


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the fundamental concepts of simulation-based education
  2. Describe elements for well designed simulation activities to achieve best learner outcomes
  3. Develop learner focused scenarios incorporating simulation best practices
  4. Define the importance and goals of pre-briefing and de-briefing
  5. Describe elements of an EPA (UME) or Milestones (GME) aligned assessment process for simulation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson and The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

For requests received up to 30 days prior to the conference, a full refund will be provided.
For requests made up to 14 days prior to the conference, a 50% refund will be provided.
Requests received within 14 days will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 
No refund will be provided once the conference begins.

The organization holding the activity reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
