Overview

The 3rd Annual Kenneth D. Hatch Memorial Lectureship is a CME activity regarding OBGYN to honor the memory of Dr. Hatch's immense talents in advanced laparoscopy and vaginal surgery, as well as in his role as a mentor to residents and medical trainees. Dr. Hatch has touched the lives of so many people, his residents and visiting trainees, his faculty and colleagues here and around the world, his friends and family, and last - but not least - his patients. The purpose of this lectureship in his honor is to memorialize his unique talent for educating all of us, and to share with those who may have missed out on learning directly from him in the OR, his immense talents in advanced laparoscopy and vaginal surgery. Please join us for an exciting morning of CME topics related to cervical cancer.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Counsel patients on potential treatments for early cervical cancer and on chemoradiation treatments for more advanced cervical cancer.
  2. Incorporate into practice knowledge of pathognomonic signs of colposcopy for diagnosing HSIL as appropriate.
  3. Utilize modified technique of cervical biopsy and loop excision as appropriate.
  4. Employ vaginally-assisted laparoscopic surgery as appropriate for women diagnosed with early stage cervical cancer.
  5. Improve delivery of bad news to women diagnosed with cervical neoplasia.
  6. Employ the current standard of care using chemoradiation.
  7. Utilize brachytherapy as appropriate.
  8. Utilize advances in radiation technology to improve outcomes.
  9. Improve ability to work as a team and use time efficiently.
  10. Incorporate into practice awareness of disparities that exist in cervical cancer screening, stage at diagnosis, treatment, and mortality.
  11. Describe barriers to cervical cancer screening and other factors that contribute to differences in cervical cancer prognosis and survival rate.
  12. Identify strategies to address disparities in the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer.
