Overview
The 2024 Neurofibromatosis Clinical Updates conference will provide current state of the art and evidence-based insights into the diagnosis, evaluation and management of neurofibromatosis type 1. It will provide an overview and practical guidelines for the lifelong need for ongoing monitoring of patients with neurofibromatosis that face age related risk, including cancer predisposition, from their condition. Primary care provider's collaboration with specialists in delivering an all-encompassing, comprehensive continuum of care is essential to the physical and mental well-being of patients with neurofibromatosis type 1.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Implement new insights and strategies to diagnose, manage, and treat children and adolescents with neurofibromatosis type 1 using the most relevant, up-to-date clinical information.
  2. Assess important clinical signs and symptoms, and the need for intervention and referral to appropriate specialists, as it relates to patient outcomes in this complex disorder.
  3. Apply best practices and the latest evidence-based guidelines in optimal care and management of neurofibromatosis type 1 patients in the primary clinical practice.
  4. Recognize potential cancer risks, developmental issues, and other systemic complications of neurofibromatosis type 1.
  5. Counsel patients and families on short-term and long-term prognoses, risks and potential treatment options for a variety of neurofibromatosis type 1 associated conditions in the pediatric population.
  6. Improve patient care outcomes for children with neurofibromatosis type 1 by accounting for potential risks and complications and collaborating with specialists to ensure best outcome.
