Overview

Please join us for our second annual Children's Surgery in the Desert. This 3.5-hour CME event is designed to engage pediatric providers in the Desert Southwest. Attendees will learn about the latest evidenced-based practices in pediatric surgery. Join us for an educational event for providers across the pediatric spectrum.

Registration Options: Student $15; RN, Other HCP $30; Resident/Fellow $30; APN, PA, Other APP $60; Physician $60


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Communicate with families using practical guidance, including setting expectations and discussing prognosis.
  2. Screen for referral and surgical intervention in conditions such as spondylolysis, spondylolisthesis, infection, and tumors.
  3. Counsel on best practices for surgical or procedural decision making, anesthetic design, and communication with parents and caregivers of patients.
  4. Identify the key steps to managing chronic constipation in the pediatric population, early intervention, behavioral interventions, and when emergency intervention is needed.
  5. Screen for the spectrum and incidence of complications associated with the Nuss procedure, distinguishing between early, late, and rare but life-threatening events.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson and Banner Healthcare. The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 3.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirement(s) of the American Board of Surgery's Continuous Certification program.
