Overview
This live virtual activity will focus on continuously improving the knowledge of the inter-professional healthcare team regarding important evidence-based treatments, some of which may be outside of their core practice. The objective is to transmit awareness of best practices in the analysis and treatment of difficult clinical problems and to improve patient care through professional education. This knowledge-based activity will also contribute to collegial, interdisciplinary teams by promoting positive, innovative, efficient, and sustainable improvements in Veteran Care.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Develop specific anti-coagulation treatment plans that incorporate new anti-coagulation agents for venous thromboembolism.
  2. Decrease inappropriate use of antibiotics, using order sets and better diagnostic strategies.
  3. Utilize mind-body principles and whole health strategies to increase treatment responses.
  4. Decrease narcotic use by incorporating effective non-narcotic pain management techniques.
  5. Incorporate strategies to counsel and provide care for geriatric populations.
  6. Identify, counsel, treat, and refer patients with increased risk of suicide.
