Overview

The First Annual Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Symposium Learn about the unique treatment and psychosocial challenges facing adolescent and young adults as they battle cancer. For Adult and Pediatric Primary Care and Oncology Providers throughout the state of Arizona (MDs, DOs, APPs, PAs, Nurses, and Social Workers). Learn about identifying and meeting the unique needs of AYA patients (ages 15-39) and join us in improving comprehensive care across the state. No cost to attend!

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Be able to identify the most common malignancies for Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) patients diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15-39.
  2. Utilize the latest advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of AYA patients, including genetic testing and proton beam radiation.
  3. Mitigate the potential late effects that are common in AYA cancer survivors.
  4. Learn about the methods available to preserve fertility using available options for AYA cancer patients.
  5. Counsel patients on the particular psychosocial stressors that may affect AYA cancer patients during and after their treatments.
  6. Coordinate with the healthcare team to help mitigate the unique challenges that AYA cancer survivors report experiencing.
