Overview
The Phoenix Children's APP Fall Symposium is a continuing medical education event designed for advanced practice providers, Physicians, APP students and other health care providers locally and from around the country who are seeking the latest evidenced-based practice in subspecialty medicine.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Utilize new evidence-based treatment and/or management strategies for selected pediatric illnesses/diseases/conditions (i.e., food allergies, nocturnal enuresis, tongue/lip tie, ADHD hyperbilirubinemia, head shape/size)
  2. Identify the difference between IgE mediated and non-IgE mediated allergy
  3. Identify the appropriate diagnostics to assist in differentiation of food reactions.
  4. Describe the management of food allergies to include testing and treatment plan
  5. Counsel regarding the etiology of nocturnal enuresis
  6. Discuss current treatments for nocturnal enuresis
  7. Determine the appropriate time to refer to Urology for nocturnal enuresis
  8. Describe the evidence base for treatment of tongue and lip tie
  9. Identify indications for lingual frenotomy
  10. Recognize the influence of lay press and social media awareness on tongue/lip tie
  11. Organize a plan for evaluation and management of children with tongue and lip tie
  12. Define updated admission criteria for hyperbilirubinemia and need for phototherapy
  13. Recognize contributing factors of high-risk profile in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia
  14. Determine outpatient follow up for hospitalized neonates with jaundice
  15. Identify normal head size range and how to differentiate based on trajectory of growth
  16. Identify head shapes and differentiate between plagiocephaly and craniosynostosis
  17. Determine the appropriate referrals of patients diagnoses of microcephaly, macrocephaly, plagiocephaly, and craniosynostosis
  18. Describe DSM criteria for diagnosis of ADHD
  19. Identify possible comorbidities that may be present in a child with ADHD
  20. Describe treatment modalities for comprehensive treatment of ADHD in children
