Overview
The goal is to bring stakeholders together and encourage collaboration, generate new ideas, and enhance their knowledge base to improve the health and lives of children and families affected by obesity and at high risk of developing chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and fatty liver to name a few.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Prescribe as appropriate pediatric pharmacotherapy as the first line treatment for patients with obesity and T2DM
  2. Apply new knowledge related to the relationship between mental health and obesity, such as avoiding the use of stigmatizing language.
  3. Apply new knowledge related to the disparities in children and adolescents with obesity/T2DM
  4. Counsel pediatric patients regarding fitness, exercise, and diet.
  5. Reduce pediatric patient obesity and associated risks of developing chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and fatty liver disease.
